Final Poster

This is my final poster which I created after looking at the draft poster. As the draft poster was not as effective I had to change a lot of things in this such as the layout, colour and font. I think it looks good compare to the previous one as the fonts are clear and I divided it into two sections. I have also included the title and other relevent information. I think the blue colour font goes very well with the background and with the rest of the design.

I think it could still be improved in the future by may be putting the font into different layout and size. It could be put togther not only strait line but other layout , like curve or other style. I could also bring in a combination of my own drawing and hand rended typography with photoshop to make it more effective and creative.

Draft Poster

Here I started putting my ideas and planning into practice, simple layout and use of text. Ideas put together as a poem format on a image background. The font and colour used on this poster doen,t stand out and it looks very complicated as the text are all over the page.  The choice of black font do not seem to work very well with the dark background image, also the font writing are all in the centre of the page and font size is too small.

In my final design I will make sure I put down all the relevent information and text on the design. I will also change the font size and layout to make sure it is clear and readable. I am going to bring inn more colours into the design because it is less colourful. As the text are all over the page, I am going to put them into a different layout and composition to make it readable and clear on the design.

Francis Baudevin&Scott King

As my poster included both images and text, I also looked at this posters by Fracis Baudevin and Scott king.  who is well known for their use of text within the image, also the use of brighter colours combined with the imagery. It is also very interesting how the two artist have unique style and different way layering the text on to the image and background colours. I think it is really important to make sure I use the right colours and typography on my poster to get the viewers attention. As my poster includes a lot of text I have to make sure I use approperiate layout and language so it is easy to read.

Graphic designers

I looked at this poster by Dana Dadkhah to get some ideas about my own poster. In this poster I really like how the artist have put together the text with the image and background colour. I think it is very effective and white text works very well on the dark portrait and yellow background. I also like how the text is laid out and almost shapping out the portrait. It is very simple but at the same time very eye-catching and informative. the use collage in some parts and bold text makes up almost the whole image.

Poster design ideas

Initial design Ideas for my poster, I started to play around with the layout of the poster trying to work out where I could put the images and text, also what types of font and colours I could use. I  was trying to put down the relevent information needed on the poster.  I thought a combination of images and text would go together very well and provides approperiate information and gets viewers attention.

Final chosen text for my essay

After putting my ideas together on the previous mindmaps I have decided to choose my final text which is STRIP CLUB. As this has come to my attention I think there is a lot to talk about this. I am going to look at this text from my own cultural perspective because we don’t have this in our country and I think it is really shocking. I am going to discover the life of these people who are into stripping. I will also going to look at how/why these women choose to go into stripping. I believe there a lot of reasons to why these women decides to get into stripping, from jobs to money and so on…..

Week 3: The three chosen Artists

Week 3
William Kentridge: political issues/ Large charcoal drawing/film.
Shirin Neshat: political issue/ women right/ culture.
Gary Hume: use of material, metallic paint, Surface.

Out of my 30 artist I have chosen to look at William Kentridge, Shirin Neshat and Gary Hume in more depth underpinning their ideas and how I am inspired by their work. My exploration of the subject has a strong connection to William Kentridge and Shirin Neshat, s work because my ideas are around my own culture, things that are occurring around me and things I am experiencing and witnessing. Over last 3 years I have exploring the reality, which is going around me and what I have seen in the past. Which is about self and what I have been through during the Taliban, what horrible things women were experiencing in Afghanistan and how they were treated during the Taliban regime and even today they are not treated fairly and there are limited opportunity for them. They are still suffering in darkness and even today some are not allowed to go to school or get a job.

Neshat, s work is mainly about women, s social and political dimensions in the Islamic and Arab world. She is exploring how women are separated from men in many ways whether you are in the Mosque or anywhere else. There are no equal opportunities for women in terms of education, politics, and jobs and so on. Women are always considered as weak and unable to do what men can do.

William Kentridge, s work has also been very useful for my practice because his works is also similar to Neshat but he is mainly into film and large drawing. He is looking into the same idea, politics and cultures in South Africa.
Gary Hume’s work has been very influential in terms of his use of paint and the surface he paints on. He is best known for his use of metallic paint and painting onto different surface such as metal and wood. His ideas come from his surrounding and reality. The medium he uses are very industrial and non-traditional.
The three artists exhibit their works all around the world mainly Europe and America. There are many ways these artists sell their work, such as through exhibition, Auction, and online. They don’t really put price on their work and they have sells advisor who deals with that and people who buys these works are mainly unknown, they don’t really show their identity, but most the works are bought for commercial purposes.
